Biography

Most rappers tell the tale of how before making music they sold drugs. Instead the story of Nassau Chainsaw begins with frontman Razor Tongue finding himself in rehab, after 7 years of playing drums for the NYHC band "Neck". During those 18 months in the solitary confinement of detox and rehabs Razor Tongue began to write lyrics that depicted the downward spiral he survived. These lyrics panted vivid images of his past struggles with life, addictions, and the streets. 4 years later addiction free, Razor found himself rapping at HipHop and Hardcore shows all over NYC to prerecorded beats. Razor came to realize that he missed the "live" elements of music that makes hardcore and metal shows so intense. Razor then decided to recrute the forces of drummer Rick and guitarist Laz from the NY metalcore band "Locked in a Vacancy". Ex "Neck" bass player Matt "4 in tha Chamber" soon followed suit. Together they formed what has become the current incarnation of Nassau Chainsaw.

After a series of shows closing the legendary venue CBGB'S. Nassau Chainsaw had built a notorious reputation for outrageous performances. They brought back that element of unpredictability in a close and personal environment designed to make you feel uncomfortable. At their shows no one knew what could happen next, everything 100% reckless abandon. Their stage presence became even more of a spectacle with the addition of the Discraceland Demo Crew. An outfit of oddities that specialize in flesh pulls, body suspension's spinning swinging and stage diving attached with hooks thru their flesh. Word of mouth and the elements of real blood, high energy, pyrotechnics and a great sounding live band helped them develop a growing fan base that allowed Nassau Chainsaw and DisGraceLanD to embark on their first east coast tour early 2008.

The success from shows garnered the attention of renowned Candiria front man Coma. He approached the band to produce their first album entitled the Asphalt Chronicles. Sharing deep roots in The New York Hardcore community the album features guest appearances from highly regarded NYHC vocalists such as Tim Williams of "Vision of Disorder", Sal of "Sworn Enemy", Coma&John of "Candiria", and Mike D of "Carbomb" just to name a few. If you had to describe the sound or style of Nassau Chainsaw the following quote from a bewildered on looker at a concert might give some indication. "This is what it must be like to have lived a bad life and gone to hell"
